i have bought virginia creeper and am about to plant it to grow up the side of my house. i've heard it can damage brickwork. am i setting myself up for problems?

this handsome devil is just that,a devil.yes indeed,it can penetrate pourous surfaces and,over time,compromise the building material.it grows feet a year and,once established is awfully difficult to eradicate.
