i have a peony which for the last two years has been in bud but has had ants on it which seem to be stopping it flowering. i have tried spraying but that hasn't worked. there are masses of buds but they remain as buds. any ideas?

try using flower fertilizer just before it buds and then weekly. ants have no bearing on the problem,
